The journey of the wise men (magoi) described in Mathew 2, most likely began in southern Yemen (Hadramaout province) and eventually ended in the Cologne Cathedral where they rest today. Their reputed homeland in the Habban area drew the interest of the Byzantine emperor Zeno who had them dis-interred and placed in crypts at Byzantium (Istanbul). Medieval crusaders stole the bodies and placed them in crypts in the Cologne cathederal (ca. 1200 A.D.) where they reside today.
